8- Inch Penile Implant
We had a 40 year old diabetic patient visit us from Vijayawada, he was experiencing erection problem since 2 years. This is a common clinical problem for a diabetic patient. Due to high blood sugar levels blood vessels can be damaged reducing the blood flow to the penis. There can also be other reasons like nerve damage and hormonal imbalance. Patient was facing difficulty in maintaining erection which reduced the quality of life and self esteem.We conducted a few test and evaluated the patient, we found patient was having erection problem due to reduced blood flow in his penis and that under his condition penile implant surgery will be the best and permanent solution. We showed him all the implants and suggested Rigi 10 implant as it has hydrophilic coating which helps in reducing the chances of infection. He was also happy to go ahead with Rigi 10 penile implant. For patients like this Rigi 10 malleable penile implant is a long term solution when medication fails. It provides reliable erection; rigidity and best conceliablity compared other implant.We prepared him for the surgery by making him fast for 8 hours before surgery and asking him to take shower with antiseptic lotion before surgery. Taking such precautions pre- surgery ensures smoother surgical experience like antiseptic lotion maintains hygiene which then reduces the chances of infection and helps in successful outcome.The surgery was successful with satisfactory results for the patient as we were able to achieve the best length for him. It is also one of the biggest size we have achieved with penile implant surgery. He underwent Rigi 10 – 12mm with right 23.5cm and left 23.5cm.
